WEBINAR: Choosing the Right Display for your Product

Webinar-Graphic-watchondemand_v1

The display can be a make-or-break factor when it comes to purchasing your product or a competitor’s. For most products that contain them, the display is the primary point of interaction with a product. On an assembly line, the display is the interface through which machine operators will run the manufacturing process. In hospitality, a mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) device is the tool through which a food truck vendor receives payment. And in consumer electronics, the display in a cell phone is where, well, everything happens. Regardless of your industry or application, the user is experience is often the ultimate deciding factor for product selection and the display is one of the key components in your product design.

When designing your product, deciding which display type to incorporate can be daunting. There are dozens of display types available out there and it can be difficult to know which display type is right for your application. Different display types are better suited to different applications. For example, LCD displays perform well in low-light conditions. By contrast, e-paper displays are great for use in direct sunlight.

Within each display type, there are various display specifications to consider as well. In addition to brightness and contrast, which are important to the user’s ability to see the display in different lighting conditions, you should also consider factors such as response time, power draw, operating temperature, and others.

Understanding what these specifications are, where each display type performs well, and which specifications are most important for your users based on the application can help you make the best decision for your product.
